DAY 2 | DELHI

As the first steps of the journey, we arrive in India’s bustling capital, Delhi, a reflection of the country’s history and culture. We transfer comfortably from the airport to our accommodation, where after a short rest, we begin exploring this vibrant city.

Meeting of Modern and Ancient

Delhi holds a special duality: the old and new worlds harmoniously merge. Old Delhi’s narrow alleys, spice markets, and historic monuments like the Red Fort and Jama Masjid recall India’s past, while New Delhi’s wide avenues, colonial-style buildings, and parks showcase the elegance of modern India.

Spiritual Introduction to India

On the first day, we visit significant sacred sites to prepare for the spiritual journey ahead. The Lotus Temple, a symbol of peace and acceptance, and the famed Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, one of Sikhism’s holiest places, radiate energies that help attune to the true essence of the journey.

Indian Flavors and Atmosphere

In the evening, an authentic Indian dinner awaits us, where we can taste local specialties. The rich aroma of spices, freshly baked naan bread, and traditional chai tea all add to a complete experience.

We spend the night in Delhi at a comfortable accommodation so we can start fresh the next day traveling along Buddha’s path to India’s sacred places.

DAY 10-12 | VARANASI: THE HOLY CITY AND THE MEETING OF TWO RELIGIONS

We spend the next three days in the city of Varanasi, India's religious and spiritual center and the holiest city situated on the banks of the Ganges River. Varanasi is important not only for Buddhism but also for Hinduism. The city’s deep religious heritage and the rituals performed on the Ganges provide a rich experience of the relationship between Hinduism and Buddhism.

Varanasi: The Holy City of Hinduism

Also known as Benares, Varanasi is one of the most sacred cities in Hinduism. It is home to the famous ghats—stepped riverbanks along the Ganges where devotees pray, bathe, and scatter the ashes of their dead. Varanasi is one of the oldest cities in the world and has been a key pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists for centuries. Walking along the Ganges, visitors can witness religious ceremonies and be enchanted by the city’s unique atmosphere.

The Meeting of Buddhism and Hinduism

Varanasi is not only a sacred city for Hindus but also a significant site for Buddha’s teachings. Here, we encounter the teachings of both religions and explore their common roots. The connection between Buddhism and Hinduism is particularly evident in Varanasi’s spiritual atmosphere, as the place where Buddha delivered his first sermon, the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, at the Deer Park.

Rituals and Meditation Opportunities

During these three days, we participate in the city’s religious ceremonies, including the famous Ganga Aarti ritual on the riverbank, where devotees purify the river with fire offerings and prayers. There are also opportunities for meditation practice, as Varanasi is one of the most important centers for spiritual deepening. Night meditations, temple visits, and involvement in rituals help deepen our connection to religious traditions and feel the city’s spiritual power.

Varanasi: A Hub of Religious Diversity

As a religious center, Varanasi boasts rich traditions and offers insight into Hindu and Buddhist teachings alike. This three-day stay allows deep engagement with both faiths’ teachings and a glimpse into how believers live and practice their rituals. The city's multicultural and religious diversity encourages new perspectives on spirituality and offers experiences to integrate into one’s life. Varanasi is truly a special place where spiritual experiences intertwine with India’s religious and cultural heritage, offering fresh viewpoints on religious life.

DAY 13 | THE MEETING OF WISDOM AND TRADITIONS

Lucknow is famous not only for its cultural and architectural treasures but also for its deep spiritual roots. For centuries, the city has been a meeting point for Sufi mysticism, Hindu traditions, and Buddhist teachings, making it an excellent place for inner reflection and transcendent experiences.

Sufi Mysticism and the Path of Peace

Lucknow is known for the presence of Sufi orders, representing the mystical stream of Islam, preaching love and unity. The city houses many dargahs (Sufi shrines) where visitors can pray, meditate, and participate in qawwali spiritual singing, a form of Sufi music. The Dargah-e-Hazrat Abbas and Shah Mina Dargah are particularly significant sites for inner purification and deep prayer.

Hindu Spirituality and Ancient Energy

The city's temples and shrines emanate special energies. The Hanuman Setu Temple and Chandrika Devi Temple are important pilgrimage sites where travelers connect with ancient Indian traditions. The surroundings of the temples, ritual chants, and fragrant incense help inward focus and create inner harmony.

Spiritual Deepening on Lucknow's Quieter Side

Beyond Lucknow’s bustling bazaars and palaces lie places perfect for contemplation. The gardens along the Gomti River, the area around the Rumi Darwaza, and the quiet corners of the Bara Imambara complex are ideal for meditation and internal journeys.

Lucknow is more than just a historic city; it is a place where different spiritual traditions converge, offering opportunities for deep inner reflection. Even in one day and night, the city's charm is palpable, inspiring and bringing inner peace to travelers.

After resting in Lucknow, we continue to Jaipur, India’s famous "Pink City," where we spend two days. Jaipur is renowned for its stunning architectural heritage, vibrant colors, and historical sights, all of which contribute to its status as one of the world’s most unique cities.

The Charm of the Pink City

Jaipur is famous for its pink-painted buildings, which were originally painted in this color in 1853 to welcome a royal British visit. The city’s colorful palaces, forts, and temples beautifully blend Mughal and Rajasthani architectural styles. One of its most well-known landmarks is the Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds, built to entertain royal women, featuring many small windows that allow continuous airflow to keep the interior cool in summer.

The Luxurious Amber Fort

Our next stop is the Amber Fort, a magnificent fortress on the outskirts of Jaipur. The fort offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and is a perfect example of Indian fort architecture. Its interior is renowned for marble decorations, pillared halls, and intricately carved murals.

Exploring the City and Shopping

Jaipur is not only famous for its historic sights but also for its bazaars, where Indian crafts like silk, gold and silver work, and famous block-printed textiles await. Johari Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar are great places to discover traditional Indian craftsmanship and shop for local gifts.

Evening in the Pink City’s Glow

At the end of the day, enjoy a pleasant dinner at a traditional Rajasthani restaurant, featuring the famous thali meal with local spices and flavors that offer a true culinary delight. The unique atmosphere, illuminated buildings, and historic sites of Jaipur help deepen our immersion into Indian culture and uncover all the city’s secrets.

The Bhávaná Buddhist Association is not a travel agency but a civil organization whose goals are:

  • deepening cultural diversity and understanding.

In this spirit, the Association organizes spiritual and community study trips and programs to facilitate deepening—not for commercial purposes but with the intention of raising awareness, self-knowledge, and learning.

The organization is conducted by a representative appointed by the Association, Attila András Sárdi, acting on its behalf as a volunteer.

2. Practical and Financial Conditions of Participation:

Participation involves several independent financial steps. The Bhávaná Association does not sell travel packages; costs are settled separately among the parties involved.
